About Hawk's View

Built From Experience. Driven by Purpose.

Hawk's View Maintenance grew out of a lifetime of learning how things work, figuring out how to fix them, and—perhaps most importantly—learning how to help people.

My path to Hawk's View wasn't a straight line. It was built over many years, through construction, rehabilitation, education, property maintenance, management, and a lot of hands-on work.

Today, all of those experiences have come together in one business.

It Started With Construction

I come from a long line of construction workers.

I started my working life in a family construction business as an ironworker, where I learned early that good work requires more than knowing how to use a tool. It requires problem-solving, attention to detail, patience, and the willingness to figure things out when the solution isn't obvious.

Working alongside family also taught me something that has stayed with me:

You take pride in what you build, and you take care of the people you're building it for.

Over the years, I continued developing skills in many areas of construction, repair, remodeling, and property maintenance.

A Different Direction

Eventually, I went to college and earned a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation.

My interest in rehabilitation came from personal experience. I grew up with a disability, and that gave me an understanding of how difficult it can be when the world—or even your own home—doesn't work the way you need it to.

I developed a strong compassion for people who were trying to live independently while dealing with challenges that others might not see.

After earning my degree, I tried to start an independent living service.

I was young, passionate, and had a good idea—but I didn't yet understand how to build and operate a business.

So I took a different path.

Twenty Years in Education

I became a special education teacher.

For nearly two decades, I worked with students with disabilities, helping them recognize abilities and possibilities that they sometimes couldn't see in themselves.

My philosophy was simple:

People are often capable of far more than they believe they are.

Education taught me patience, communication, problem-solving, leadership, and perhaps most importantly, how to meet people where they are.

But I never stopped working with my hands.

Every Summer, Back to Building

While teaching, I continued doing construction and property work.

During summers and school breaks, I remodeled homes, completed repairs, performed apartment turns, worked on investment properties, and took on whatever projects came my way.

I also pursued additional training, including property inspection, because I wanted to understand not just how to make a property look good, but how to make sure the work was done correctly and brought the property up to appropriate standards.

The classroom was my career.

Building and maintaining properties never stopped being part of who I was.

Learning Property Maintenance From the Ground Up

At one point between teaching positions, I accepted a position as a senior community maintenance technician for a multifamily property.

That experience changed the way I looked at property maintenance.

I learned what it takes to keep an entire community functioning—not just one house.

I gained hands-on experience with:

  • Multifamily property maintenance

  • Apartment make-ready

  • HVAC systems

  • Appliances

  • Plumbing

  • Pool care

  • Irrigation

  • Electrical systems

  • Preventative maintenance

  • Turnover work

  • Property inspections

  • Resident maintenance needs

I learned that property maintenance isn't just about fixing something when it breaks.

It's about understanding the property as a whole.

Learning How to Build a Business

During COVID, I returned to school and earned a Master of Education in Leadership.

That experience gave me something I hadn't had when I was younger:

A better understanding of leadership, management, systems, and how organizations actually operate.

I began to understand how to take the skills I had developed over decades and turn them into something bigger than simply working for myself.

I finally had the missing piece.

And Then Came Hawk's View

Over the last several years, I began putting all of those experiences together.

Construction.

Rehabilitation.

Education.

Property maintenance.

Management.

Problem-solving.

A desire to help people.

And a belief that a well-maintained home can have a profound effect on someone's quality of life.

That became Hawk's View Maintenance.

The name reflects the way I want to approach property care:

Step back. Look at the whole picture. See what others might miss. Then take care of what needs to be done.

Continuing to Learn

I'm still learning—and I don't intend to stop.

Today, I've continued expanding my training and expertise with certifications and specialized education including:

  • Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS)

  • Senior Transition Specialist (STS)

  • Certified Appliance Repair

  • HVAC Repair Certification

  • Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT)

  • EPA certifications

  • OSHA training

  • Lead Safety certification

Each certification represents another piece of the larger picture.

But certifications are only useful if you can apply what you've learned.

I enjoy learning how things work, diagnosing problems, finding solutions, and using that knowledge to make someone's home or property better.

Why Aging in Place Matters to Me

My background in rehabilitation and special education eventually brought me back to something I had been interested in many years ago:

Independent living.

Aging in place isn't simply about installing grab bars or making a doorway wider.

It's about helping people remain in control of their lives and their homes for as long as possible.

That means looking at the whole picture:

The person.
The home.
The maintenance.
The safety.
The future.

Sometimes the answer is a simple repair.

Sometimes it's a modification.

Sometimes it's a maintenance plan.

Sometimes it's a larger improvement.

And sometimes the best answer is simply helping someone understand their options.

Building Something for the Future

Hawk's View is more than a business I'm creating for myself.

I'm working to build a family business that can grow and expand over time.

My goal is to develop systems, standards, and services that allow Hawk's View to provide the same level of care whether I'm personally doing the work or eventually training someone else to do it.

I want to build a company based on:

Good workmanship.

Continual learning.

Honest recommendations.

Practical solutions.

Respect for the people we serve.

And a commitment to taking care of the property entrusted to us.

All the Pieces Coming Together

Looking back, the path makes more sense now than it did while I was walking it.

The construction experience taught me how to build.

Rehabilitation taught me how environments affect independence.

Education taught me how to help people recognize their potential.

Property maintenance taught me how buildings actually function.

Multifamily maintenance taught me how to manage properties at scale.

Leadership taught me how to build systems and organizations.

And all those years of learning taught me something else:

There is almost always a solution if you're willing to understand the problem first.

That's what I bring to Hawk's View.

Focused on Today. Preparing for Tomorrow.

Whether we're repairing a broken appliance, troubleshooting an HVAC system, turning an apartment, maintaining a commercial property, improving a home, or helping someone prepare to remain independent in the home they love, the philosophy is the same.

Take care of what matters today.

Look ahead to what comes next.

Build something that lasts.

That's Hawk's View Maintenance.

Focused on Today. Preparing for Tomorrow.
